[Habit No. 1] How’s it going?

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Assalamu Alaikum.

So, how’s it going? How many of you have managed to get somewhere?

Let me start.

I’ve been 50-50, meaning I stayed up after Fajr on half the days and went back to sleep on the other half.

Why did I go back to sleep? Well, I had either slept late the previous night or didn’t sleep well during that night (I’m an insomniac).

I have to do better from now on, insha-Allah i.e stay up after Fajr every day.

However, on the bright side, the fact that I have managed to stay up for half the days is quite encouraging.

So, what about the rest of you?

alhamdulillah at first it was difficult but now by the grace of Allah I’m able to stay up.
I got support from my husband as well . we started to go for a 15 min walk after fajr .
which make me fresh to start my day [but my hus does go back to sleep ]
but something that really helped me is reducing my dinner content with salad and fruits. and taking
    id early . jazakillahu khairen

I managed to stay up for a few days last week allhumdulillah plus my kidsgot up too a couple of days and it was nice relaxing morning. However I have noticed that when I have a late night it becomes a bit of a challenge. Going back to bed isn’t the best either when you have to get up for work just a little later. Insha-Allah will keep trying.

actually when you started this series i thought of one thing actually in ramadan we usually use the night time for prayer, visitingn ppl, suhoor, so looking at tht we get arouind 3 to 3:30 hours of sleep which im and most ppl wont be able to keep this waking up fajr program
i thought inshaALLAH after ramadan to start this habit
anywayz by Allah grace i hav cut down my sleep but it takes time for me . alhamdulillah.

I haven’t done too well. I’ve only managed to stay up a couple of days only. The rest of the time, I’ve ended up going back to sleep after an hour or so following Fajr.

  4. Wa alaykum salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu, Well sleep is a challenge with young kids keeping me awake at night and at the most i get about 5 to 6 hours of usually broken sleep so I didnt attempt this challenge in the way that it was meant to be done. Although i do stay awake after fajr anyway and do my morning adhkar whilst preparing breakfasts and lunches. I am kind of adapting this challenge for me and making it a challenge to pray Salatul Dhuha before returning to sleep (if i do manage to fit the sleep in before picking up my child from school). After the brats leave for school and after waiting for the baby to go back to sleep after his breakfast etc I sometimes manage to have a 30 minute or 1 hour nap during his morning nap. I feel that i really need that hour or so sleep to stay sane so i think this challenge was too difficult to attempt for me at the moment. InshaAllah I hope that others benefit from all the extra time and barakah from staying awake like praying dhuha etc. This is one of my hubbys habits and he simply cant go to sleep after fajr because his body is not accustomed to it and alhamdulillah he gets lots of stuff done in the morning even on jumuah and weekend.

  5. Assalamualaikum,
I’m finding this challenge quite difficult for me at the moment. Due to morning sickness which is worst at fajr time I feel I really need to sleep after praying. Also during pregnancy women tend to feel very sleepy so I end up sleeping more than I used to before.
I dont think I’ll be able to fast as well this Ramadan…which is really sad:(….
Would be nice to hear experiences of other sisters who have been through similar situations.

    May Allah reward you.

Alhamdulillah today I miraculously was able to stay up after fajr with hardly any feeling of nausea and moreso hardly feeling the urge to go back to sleep. Was as fresh as ever! How great is the power of dua and greater the One who answers the dua of His slaves.
May Allah reward you for starting this challenge and make this sadaqah jaariyah for you.
